How to setup Abandoned Carts Alerts Pro extension properly.

You should read the following text to understand how the Abandoned Carts Alerts Pro extension works.



1. Magento creates shopping cart when visitor (registered or
not) adds a product to the cart.



2. When the session is over Magento sets the cart to
abandoned/empty.



3. The session can be ended in 2 cases: 1. Logged in visitor
clicks on "logout". 2. The Session is timed out. You can find Session
Timeout here: System -> Configuration -> General -> Web -> Session
Cookie Management -> Cookie lifetime (for some cases you should update value
for php settings)



4. The extension requests a list of abandoned carts every 5
min (by Cronjob)



5.The list of abandoned carts is transformed into schedule
for reminders that can be set up. Reminder #1 time = current time + First Delay
Period (System->Configuration->Catalog->Abandoned Carts
Alerts->First Delay Period), Reminder #2 time = current time + First Delay
Period, Reminder 3 = current time + Third Delay Period.



6. The extension checks for schedule every 5 min (by
Cronjob)



7. The extension creates reminder-letter based on e-mail
templates (You can change templates here:
System->Configuration->Catalog->Abandoned Carts Alerts->First email
template and edit here: System -> Transaction emails -> Add new template
-> Load default template -> Abandoned Cart: First Follow Up)



8. The extension checks for product availability. If the
product is out of stock it is not included
in cart description.



9. Follow up email is put in queue.



10. The extension sends email in small bulks to avoid
spamming.



11. If user clicks on recovery link the extension blocks all
emails linked with recovered cart.



12. All steps are added to statistics, even the carts that
cannot be recovered, in order to show
you real situation with abandoned carts.



   



Please setup your cron jobs to run every 2 min to minimize
issues with flexible delay before first email.



 Questions:



1. I have just closed my browser with shopping cart. When do
I get the first follow up email?



Follow up email delay = Session timeout time (usually 10
min) + First delay period (10 min / default setting) + Cron delays (if you
setup every 2 min cron delay will be up to 2 min).



First follow up email can't be sent



It means that if you need to send email after 20 min you
have to check both values (timeout and delay).



 



You have default text for follow up email. To increase
conversion rate please update templates with more attractive words for your
clients.
